World Wide Web

So, I’ve been taking a class called Intro to Web Development and Design, which is something I’ve wanted to get into for a while. I have to admit it puts me totally out of my comfort zone, but there’s something fairly thrilling about writing code, and watching a website transform.

The Big Move

I’m pleased to announce that I’m heading back within city limits! No more suburbia for me, the exile is OVER! I’ll be moving in with my lovely best friend, and as an added bonus I will once again have studio space! Her impressive boyfriend is building us an arts and crafts corner (I may even wield a hammer or two!) and I’m really looking forward to getting back to work, as it were!

Precision

I have never been a precise artist, and sometimes I envy that in other artists. Many friends of mine, who also happen to be artists, paint with with such careful precision and attention to detail. For me, though, it’s all about controlled chaos.. letting the paint do what it will, but being able to be predict the possibilities. I find my my way of painting very cathartic, but sometimes I wish I was a different kind of painter.

Perhaps this is why I enjoy graphic design so much, because in that I am very precise. That’s what makes it so different for me..

Patrice Murciano

This is gorgeous.. these are the sort of techniques I want to learn! Was this digitally painted, or physically? If it’s digitally done, I want to know how!

Staircases

I’ve always had a fascination with staircases. What beautiful geometry! Where do they lead? I’m considering doing a series of staircase paintings on tall, thin wooden boards. Beautiful, twisting, decrepit, fantastical staircases, that look like they could lead just about anywhere.

I want to collect as many photos of staircases as I can for references!

Minimalism

ANYONE who knows me knows that I lead a cluttered life. My home is cluttered, my art is cluttered, even my thoughts are cluttered. But, given my shortage on space, I really need to start applying a more minimalistic approach to my working space.

…my physical one, not my mental one. That’s a whole different battle.

I’ll see if I can rustle up some before/after photos of my desk once I’ve made my attempt. Wish me luck!
